We have worked on some innovations in the field of radio transmission. The two papers below describe wireless receivers front-ends using multiple antennas such as the ones used in MIMO radio transmission schemes. We refer to these devices as MIMOmatch front-ends.
[B68] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier , "Taking advantage of mutual coupling in radio-communication systems using a multi-port antenna array", IEEE Antennas & Propagation Magazine, Vol. 49, No. 4, August 2007, pp. 208-220.
[B69] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier , "Multiple-input-port and multiple-output-port amplifier for wireless receivers", Technical Conferences Proceedings of the SAME 2007 forum, Sophia Antipolis, October 3-4, 2007.
The paper [B68] approaches the MIMOmatch concepts from the viewpoint of an antenna designer (in particular in Sections 5 and 8), whereas the paper [B69] discusses the design of a MIMOmatch front-end with the approach of a circuit designer.
These innovations are covered by the following patent applications:
[P30] International application PCT/IB2006/003950 of 19 December 2006 (WO 2007/083191). Multiple input and multiple output amplifier. Inventors: Frédéric Broydé & Evelyne Clavelier. Priority French patent application 06 00388 of 17 January 2006.
[P33] International application PCT/IB2007/001344 of 26 April 2007 (WO 2008/001168). Multiple-input and multiple-output amplifier using mutual induction in the feedback network. Inventors: Frédéric Broydé & Evelyne Clavelier. Priority French patent application 06 05633 of 23 June 2006.
[P34] International application PCT/IB2007/001589 of 5 June 2007 (WO 2008/010035). Method and device for radio reception using a plurarity of antennas. Inventors: Frédéric Broydé & Evelyne Clavelier. Priority French patent application 06 06502 of 18 July 2006.
The MIMO-SSFA (MIMO Series-Series Feedback Amplifier) used in these inventions is described in the following paper (this paper is the reference [6] of [B68] and the reference [24] of [B69]):
[B70] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier, "MIMO Series-Series Feedback Amplifiers", IEEE Trans. Circuits Syst. II: Express Briefs, Vol. 54, No. 12, December 2007, pp. 1037-1041.
