Radio transmission
Multiple-input-port and multiple-output-port amplifiers

We have worked on some innovations in the field of radio transmission. The three papers below describe wireless receiver front-ends using multiple antennas such as the ones used in MIMO radio transmission schemes. We refer to these devices as MIMOmatch front-ends.

[B68] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier, "Taking advantage of mutual coupling in radio-communication systems using a multi-port antenna array", IEEE Antennas & Propagation Magazine, Vol. 49, No. 4, August 2007, pp. 208-220.

[B69] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier, "Multiple-input-port and multiple-output-port amplifier for wireless receivers", Technical Conferences Proceedings of the SAME 2007 forum, Sophia Antipolis, October 3-4, 2007.

[B90] F. Broydé, E. Clavelier, "The Noise Performance of a Multiple-Input-Port and Multiple-Output-Port Low-Noise Amplifier Connected to an Array of Coupled Antennas", International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, vol. 2011, Article ID 438478, 12 pages, doi:10.1155/2011/438478, Nov. 2011.

The paper [B68] approaches the MIMOmatch concepts from the viewpoint of an antenna designer (in particular in Sections 5 and 8), whereas the paper [B69] discusses the design of a MIMOmatch front-end with the approach of a circuit designer. The paper [B90] discusses the concept of noise figures in the case of receiver front-ends using multiple antennas, and treats the special case of MIMOmatch front-ends.

These innovations are covered by the following patents and published PCT applications:
